How did you decide what to include in The Pittsburgh Guidebook?

We curated a diverse mix of our favorite museums, attractions, parks, and events across southwest Pennsylvania, focusing on variety rather than trying to include everything.

Why isn't [insert your favorite here] in the book?

To keep printing costs manageable, we set a cap on the number of entries. Some places and events, including those with uncertain futures, were left out and may be reconsidered in future editions.

Why is the book priced at $22.99?

The book is a high-quality 6x9 guide with color photos on every entry, which significantly increases print costs. The price was set to cover these costs while still being reasonable. For a lower-cost option, we offer a digital PDF version at $10.

Isn't everything available on Discover the Burgh for free?

Yes, every experience in the book has been featured on Discover the Burgh in some form. The guidebook is a curated, ad-free offline companion, and purchasing it also supports local independent media in Pittsburgh.

Why didn't you include restaurants, bars, and breweries?

The original concept included food and drink, but after starting the first draft in early 2020, many places closed or changed. To avoid constant turnover, we focused this edition on more stable attractions and may create a separate food and drink guide in the future.

How are you keeping track of changes to businesses featured?

We maintain a dedicated resource page on Discover the Burgh with a running log of changes, a report-a-change form, an interactive map, and links to official sites and our reviews.

Is The Pittsburgh Guidebook available on Kindle?

The guidebook is not currently available as a dedicated Kindle edition. Instead, we offer it as a PDF download to keep costs down. Readers can upload the PDF to Kindle using Amazon’s standard process and can contact us if they would like to see a specific Kindle version in the future.

How do I access my digital download?

After purchase, you are taken to a customer portal where your order receipt and a Downloads section appear. Click the book name there to reach a page with a Download button. You should also receive an email titled 'Access Your Purchase' with a direct download link.

Who is your publisher?

The Pittsburgh Guidebook is fully self-published. We handled the writing, editing, photography, and formatting and use IngramSpark as our printing service, which may result in minor variations between copies.

What print-on-demand variations may exist?

Because the book is printed on demand rather than in bulk, there may be slightly longer shipping times and small printing variations such as trim lines, bleed differences, and color variation.

Currently, we have a suggested retail price of $22.99+tax. We do not print the MSRP on the back of the book if you wish to price the book differently. Wholesale pricing may vary slightly by fulfillment service.

Please Note: Our print service fulfills orders to wholesale services directly. At this time, wholesale orders of fewer than 20 books each are likely to find the best prices on wholesale platforms, especially for those with resale certificates for tax purposes. Bulk Orders for Gifts

For those who are looking to purchase bulk orders outside of wholesale channels, such as for gifts or other non-commercial distribution, we are able to offer progressive discounts from retail price, with discounts starting at 10+ copies. Please contact us using the form below for a custom quote.

For orders of fewer than 10 prints, picking up copies at a local bookstore or purchasing from services like Amazon (which offers free shipping to Prime members) will offer some of the lowest prices at this time. Currently, we are unable to fulfill single-book orders directly outside of limited, special promotions. When available, links for direct orders of single copies will be available on our homepage.

Print Edition Notes: For all orders, please allow sufficient time for delivery- 10-14 business days are typical. As we use a print-on-demand service, print variations may occur. We do not maintain large quantities in inventory at any given time. Additional fees may apply for priority printing and/or shipment.

Digital Licensing
